About us

The Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) is a non-profit professional organization whose mission is to collect, disseminate and exchange technical knowledge concerning the exploration, development and production of hydrocarbon resources (oil-gas) and technologies. related for public benefit. In addition, it provides opportunities for professionals to improve their professional techniques and skills.


The SPE provides a global forum for oil and natural gas exploration and production (E&P), professionals for the exchange of technical knowledge, and a home for more than 144,000 engineers, scientists, managers, and educators. The SPE technical library contains more than 50,000 technical documents, products of SPE conferences and periodicals, available to the entire industry. SPE has offices in Dallas, Houston, Calgary, London, Dubai, Moscow and Kuala Lumpur.


The sections are located throughout the world and provide an operational framework for all the society’s main activities. The sections are semi-autonomous and autonomous units within the framework of SPE policies. Section members elect officers and directors annually. Sections are organized into regions, and each region has representation on the SPE Board of Directors..

The mission of the SPE Student Chapter at the University of Oriente, Monagas Campus, is to provide our members with the necessary tools to become highly skilled and ethical professionals in the field of petroleum engineering.
